CHRISTCHURCH
PARK VIEW HOUSE
2019
Families and lifestyles evolve and change, often to the point that once much-loved homes no longer align harmoniously with the rhythms of modern living. We can find ourselves fitting into our homes instead of our homes fitting our functional needs and aesthetic preferences, greatly impacting on the experience of being at home.
Appreciative of the neighbourhood and their stunning park view, the clients of this 1990s home chose to extend and renovate instead of relocating, reaping the benefit of maintaining all they loved about their home, while aligning it more closely with their wants and needs.
Their home received a full upgrade of services, new cladding and insulation, high spec windows, a home automation system, and a central heating system.
The interior was opened to allow for free-flowing living, while a separate media room answered the call for a more intimate space to retreat to.
A generous kitchen with a large island, which can be used as a preparation surface or as a table to accommodate social moments, opened onto an outdoor breakfast courtyard bathed in morning sun.
A new outdoor living and entertainment space, with a retractable louver roof system to control the balance of sun and shade, is protected from the prevailing northeasterly wind and offers privacy with a park view!
