This modernist home impresses with more than its elegant form. In line with the client brief, the design marries sustainable passive principles with architectural aesthetic and spatial functionality.
Integral to the brief was a roof deck for sun bathing and star gazing, and integral to the design are numerous high-performance features, which are already paying dividends for the owners, with constant year-round temperatures and humidity levels, and low energy bills:
- double-framed external walls
- insulated foundation and air-tight construction
- mechanical heat recovery system
- high levels of insulation including a warmroof
- triple-glazing and solar panels
- locally grown and processed thermally modified timber cladding
- even a passive-certified cat door!
