CHRISTCHURCH

WAITIKIRI HOUSE

2014

Designed for a builder and his young family, this four-bedroom, two-bathroom home was carefully curated to maximise solar gain in winter whilst minimising overheating in summer.

Boasting high timber ceilings, with exposed bespoke trusses and an abundance of natural light, the internal flow of this home is supported through a series of open and flexible spaces that are calm and contemporary yet family-friendly.

A versatile loft space above the garage provides practical storage and a future space for teenagers to retreat to, and an outdoor courtyard for entertaining, sheltered from the prevailing north-easterly wind, was created using the building’s form and layout, accommodating the geometry and orientation of the site.
